Ashley Hite did her graduate work at the University of South Carolina and received an Educational Specialist degree in Counseling with a specialization in couples, marriage, and family therapy. As an undergrad at Winthrop University she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. While at the University of South Carolina she completed her practicum and internship requirements here at Peer In. She is currently working towards becoming a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

Ashley has experience working with children, adolescents, college students, and adults. She counsels clients with a wide range of life issues, such as depression, anxiety, identity/self-worth, career concerns, stress management, and communication / conflict resolution. However, the areas she is passionate about include couple / marital issues, life transitions, communication, women’s issues, and self-esteem concerns. The approach she takes to counseling is that of a collaborative process between herself and the client. She is there to compassionately help the client understand their own strengths and potential in order to move towards their goal. Ashley works to establish this understanding by exploring the client’s patterns of expectations, communication, coping mechanisms, and conflict resolution.
